Wazzup Steemit! What if Char Aznable stole Amuro Ray's mobile suit? It would definitely be painted red! HAHA. Well for today's customized gunpla, we will take a look as to how the great Casval design an RX-78-02.

So this is a custom Gunpla of the kit 1/144 HGUC RX-78-02 Revive that was customized by a good friend of mine. The base kit is straight up one of the best releases from Bandai. Of course, being the lead mobile suit from the hit anime series, the RX-78-02 already had various versions, but in my honest opinion, this has gotta be the best of them all.

The articulation of the figure is amazing. It can do most of the poses that you can see on the anime. The joints do hold through time as well. I do have this plastic model, and despite numerous times of changing its poses, I never experienced loose joints.

The kit also boasts a great amount of details. It resembles the anime very well, yet it has details that would give the RG version a run for its money. The surface details are great for panel lining and the simple color scheme boosts the overall aesthetics.

With these features, the opportunity for customization is limitless. And for this case, my friend, who is also a hardcore Zeon fan, decided to "Zeonize" the mobile suit.

With the use of industrial paint and Zeon inspired decals, plus a couple of acrylic and oil paint weathering techniques, this is now the final result.

The details are superbly done, with the right amount of paint chippings. The custom Gunpla also dons some battle damage scars that are very evident in the head area. This was done using wires from old iphone earpods, to achieve realistic electrical wiring inside the mobile suit.

To finish the overall aesthetics, an earth landscape diorama was created through clay and a green sponge. This gives an overall impact as to where the battle took place.

Overall, we are very satisfied with this customized Gunpla. It was a sure head-turner back when this was displayed on a toy event in our area. The reception of fellow Gunpla enthusiasts with the custom was indeed heart-warming.

So that wraps up another custom Gunpla showcase in my blog! Dont forget to UPVOTE this post, it really encourages us to create more toy related content for you guys!
