I took this photo during a visit to Split Rock Lighthouse. I like to visit this lighthouse because it is a tranquil location on Minnesota's largest freshwater lake (Lake Superior). The scenery is beyond amazing. I like this photo because the lighthouse is framed by the trees and horizon of the lake simply fades into the sky, which really shows how large this lake is.
About the lighthouse: Nestled on the curvy, rocky, & steep cliff edges of the North Shore in Minnesota sits a glorious and mysterious lighthouse built in 1910 at the cost of $75,000. The lighthouse was built due to the loss of 29 ships on the infamous Lake Superior and the famous Mataafa Storm of 1905.
