A lot of Germans buy or rent small parcels of land to have their own garden and built their own blockhouse. Especially on weekends most of the landowners are working there to cultivate fruits and vegetables or have barbecue with their families. Because of apartment shortages in urban areas a lot of these Schrebergarten Settlements disappear, to built new apartment houses instead. It's kind of sad, but what else can you do in times, where more and more people are moving to the cities.
