Earth is the third planet in the universe, from the sun, it is where we all live on. It is said to be the only planet with life on it.
The large mass of the sun enables Earth move around it, just as the mass of Earth enables the moon move around it. Earth turns around in space, so that different parts of the Earth face the sun at different times. Earth revolves round the sun once in 365¼ days.
Earth is said to be the only planet in our solar system with a large amount of liquid water. About 71% of the surface of Earth is covered by oceans. Due to this reason, people sometimes call the Earth Blue Planet
Earth is home to millions of species of animals and plants, because of its water. The living part of the Earth's surface is called the biosphere
About seven billion people live on Earth. They live in about 200 different lands called countries. Some (like the Vatican) are small while others (like Russia) are large with many large cities. China, India, the United States, Indonesia, and Brazil are the five countries with the most people.
People have changed the Earth in many ways. They have been able to grow plants for food and clothes for about ten thousand years. People were able to build towns and cities when there was enough food. Close to these places, men and women were able to change rivers, bring water to farms, and stop floods (rising water) from destroying their land. People found useful animals and bred them so they were easier to keep and for further use and merriment.
