Ushkanyi Islands are situated in the middle part of lake Baikal, in seven kilometers from the Holy Nose Peninsula. This place is protected so that the land on the island is prohibited!
The island is also famous for the fact that on the rocky ledges it is possible to observe the rookery of Baikal seals. These unique creatures are found only in lake Baikal.
The Baikal subspecies of the seal is endemic to lake Baikal, a very mysterious creature, the seal is incredibly curious and cautious at the same time.
