Ardnamurchan Lighthouse

Ardnamurchan point, on the tip of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula to the west of Fort William, Scotland is the most westerly point on the UK mainland. Home to a very sparse population and served by a tiny, largely single track road network, it's a place most haven't even heard of and fewer have visited. There lies a lighthouse on the very edge of the peninsula, with views out to the Small Isles. I escaped for a break here in 2010; an excellent place to rest the body and mind as you can spend your time there largely without seeing a single person.

A challenging photograph due to the position of the sun.

The huge foghorn.

Rum Eigg and Muck.JPG
View of the Small Isles on a clear day. Rum (large island, back left), Eigg (back right, the one that looks like a straight razor) and Muck in the middle. I believe the land mass visible far back might be the Isle of Skye.
