The North Island Kaka - a bit like a Kea but not so green

in photography •  8 years ago

We have some pretty amazing and interesting birds in New Zealand.

The Kaka look like dull brown parrots until they open their wings and catch a bit of sun. Then, if you are lucky, you get to see their brilliant plumage.

These guys are not something you'd stick in a cage in your living room however. They can be very loud and like their cousins the Kea, they are very inquisitive and like tearing apart anything that looks expensive to see what's inside.

These birds are quite fun to watch as they are always getting into mischief and don't seem to be very shy of humans.
