Texas Nature Photos - August 3rd, 2016 [OSC]

in photography •  8 years ago  (edited)

As promised I went further down the range for today's photos. And just for @pfunk I used my 25mm lens on some shots. All photos were taken on the afternoon of August 3rd, 2016 with a Canon 1000D using a Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM Lens and a Sigma 150-500mm using a Circular Polarizer CPL filter and perfected in Lightroom.

Nice photos and a beautiful landscape!
What you may want to try out for those shots with the animals in the center is to crop them by applying the ´rule of thirds´. This can easily be done in Lightroom. When you place the subjects of interest (e.g. the landing bird) on the intersections of the ´rule of third´- grid the images often (not always) becomes more energetic.
Thanks for sharing, I´m looking forward to your next selection!

Thanks for the tip! I had read about that last week in the National Geographic Field Guide pfunk recommended, but forgot all about it. I will definitely do that on the next round.

Your welcome!

Nice dragonfly. I snapped one recently also.

I have never seen a red dragonfly before. What part of the world does this beast live in?

Northern California. There were a bunch of blue ones flying around, but they were too hyper to capture on photo. This one was nice and chill, like The Dude.

I've seen a lot of red dragonfly's when I'm on the road. An interesting bug to say the least. Always getting smashed against the bus grill. Not the smartest bugs at figuring out how to stay out of harms way.

The last photo is unbelievable. It's that your property too? You love nature more than me,but I love it too.Nice photos you have here man.

Yeah I thought that sepia filter looked cool too. Thanks!

I think it would of been a more interesting shot if you allowed the light from the water to be untainted too reflect. That just my opinion... Still very good for an amateur though... keep up the good work Tuck. I'm loving the pictures you post each day of the nature. Defiantly worth your time as well... you could be consider a professional photographer with the money you made sharing these on srteemit.
looking forward to your next pictures you post..I always upvote them... thanks again ")

Thanks for posting these photos. They are great. Especially the second and third one. They invite me to immediately teleport myself there :)

Yeah I like those two myself. Thanks!

These are really great! Need to be in a magazine!

Thanks! :)

I know some people who still publish magazines...I'll send them this link. Maybe they'll get in touch with and offer you some money for them...ya never know ..the steemit community is really digging your work look at all these upvotes and comments about loving your shots ...me as well I'm a fan of your photo's ..I'm gonna make sure that I keep you on my steemit radar.

Great pictures tuck!

Good job on watermarking them too so it makes life harder for copy-pasters ;)

Thanks!

All of these are great photos. like the one with the birds facing each other. I included you in my last art project, wood-burned some robots from steemd.com

Thanks! :)

Nice one Tuck. Love the fishy photo!

He had no fear. Just looking at me with "wtf u want?".

if I would manage to succeed with one of my posts I would like to buy nikon p900 which has insane 80x zoom. And all the forest fauna WILL BE MINE!)
Ofcourse, It has small sensor and there are some more lacks but the idea of shooting squirrels and bees in flight still not leaves me)

I like the first one and the flower picture. I would love your opinion on my latest post its a mini survey.

Hello tuck! Nice photos. Thank you!

Thanks vlad!

Wow!!!

Beautiful pictures Tuck! :)

Great outdoor pictures to look at. Thanks

Glad you enjoyed them!

Awesome pics @tuck-fheman !!

Is photography just a hobby of yours? Also I have another question. Not sure if you could answer this but I figured it's worth a shot. Let's say it's a clear night out with a lot of stars; do you need a DSLR to capture that? If so, how does one go about taking the picture?

It's a rather new hobby for me. I've taken pictures before, but with crappy cameras. Seeing all the great photos here on Steem gave me the itch to finally get some decent gear.

As far as what lens you would need for night shots, I'm not the right person to answer that one. Someone like pfunk, jamtaylor or steemychicken1 may be able to help though. Make a post in #photography and I'm sure someone would be able to give you a rather precise answer.
