Hi! I am visiting Taichung and was able to get out of the city and see some of the mountains, including QingJing Farm and the new skywalk installed near it. I was blessed with a sunny day!welcome! Taipei just got it's first Michelin guide, come up for some good food!While Taipei is the international city with the Michelin guide, it definitely doesn't have the best food in Taiwan.

In fact, many Taiwanese consider Taichung to be the gastro hub of Taiwan. :)indeed, Taichung has some of my favorite restaurants, but imo, it's easier to find the "small quaint little family run shops" in Taipei (but then again I live here so I'm far more familiar with Taipei than Taichung, I need to go more often)

Definitely go to one of the national parks and the beaches down south in Kenting national park is great. Visit the night markets and eat your heart out (enjoy the bubble tea and other taiwanese food). I went to Yilan to see dolphins but down south there is also a place (gotta do research).

Have fun shopping in any big shopping malls if you like shopping (there are 14+ floors please dont leave after the 4th like my friend thinking it's done). Taipei and of course Taipei 101 is fun (Taipei also has lots of escape rooms).If you need a break spend a night in Jiaoxi! Cute little hot springs town... we go at least once a year and rent a room with a private hot springs bath. They also have public hot springs in the city parks. :) Definitely go check out Hualien because it is crazy beautiful. It is my wife and my favorite place here, and the place we plan on moving to in a bit.

If you're gonna go to Tainan, also go check out Kenting in the south. If you're gonna be here over the weekend of April 5th and don't like to party, don't go to Kenting over that weekend. There is a huge party there that weekend. If not, it is a super beautiful beach destination with some hiking as well.

Are you going to be in Taipei?Just spent a summer in Tainan! I'm sure you're friend will show you all the main sites, you're lucky you have a friend there as to me it seemed like a city you can only truly take advantage of with a local. Definitely enjoy all the roadside food options!
