Monotropa hypopitys is one of very few plants that does not have any form for photosynthesis. Because of this it does not even have chlorophyll, which in turns mean that it does not get the green color we usually associate with plants. It looks really unique in my opinion, but it's actually not that uncommon to find in the forest here in Norway, or even anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere.

Nice info. Thanks. First I was terrifeid that my claim of all life being dependant on photosynthesis wasn't valid any longer, but when I google it I was released from my worries :) They live "parasittic", or in a symbiose most likely, with other mushroom and plants.
Fellow norwegian here :)
