Random Macro Photography | Lucilia Sericata, Amata Huebneri, Unknown Beetles

Three species of insects I uploaded together in one post, photos shot in the last 2 days, I unintentionally found it when targeting another object. These photos are my work shot with simple equipment, taken with Samsung smartphone cameras plus macro lenses assembled from optical Leica lens broken.

Lucilia Sericata

The common green bottle fly (Lucilia sericata) is a blow fly found in most areas of the world, and the most well-known of the numerous green bottle fly species. It is 10–14 mm long, slightly larger than a house fly, and has brilliant, metallic, blue-green or golden coloration with black markings. It has short, sparse black bristles (setae) and three cross-grooves on the thorax. The wings are clear with light brown veins, and the legs and antennae are black. The maggots (larvae) of the fly are used for maggot therapy. ^{en.wikipedia.org.}

Lucilia sericata is a species of interest in medicine and has been studied by medical experts, it can contribute wound debridement in the treatment of chronic skin wounds and ulcers to improve healing.

Lucilia sericata related information as an interesting study object can be found from several scientific studies published by the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health.

Wounds resulting from multiply factors, bed sores, diabetes, burns can be treated with Lucilia sericata (L. sericata) maggots. But there are few data reported on green flies and diabetic patients in Iran, though diabetic foot ulcer is responsible for half of the diabetic patients visiting hospitals in Iran. Following successful employment of fly larvae in treating antibiotic-resistant wound infections, the World Health Organization introduced maggot therapy as a suitable alternative method. ^{ncbi.nlm.nih.gov}

Generally, we in Aceh feel worried when the wound encountered by Lucilia sericata, mythical stories haunt us.

Amata Huebneri

Lack of information I have found on the internet about Amata huebneri, but the taxo4254.wikispaces.com page details a bit more about Amata huebneri while listing the words "The page aims to collect and present a large chunk of the information that exists on the species".

Amata hubneri is a day flying moth in the superfamily Actiinae of tiger moths and woolly bears. It is the smallest species in its genus. It can be found all over Singapore and most of Southeast Asia and yet little is known about its ecology and life cycle. In addition it is a member of a phylogenically uncertain and continually changing branch of the tree of life which obscures what information there actually is. ^{taxo4254.wikispaces.com}
