My relative was on that trip. Sacajawea.

And you coming through Portland anytime soon let me know.

Love it!

That's cool. This was also the expedition which featured the first woman (Sacajawea) and the first black man having an equal vote with white men in the US. (They were voting about which side of the river to build the fort.)

Sorry, we were there and back in August. I don't know when we'll be that way again. Keep in touch.

Those are all great photos, of course, but I feel I have to remind you that we have a place called Cape Disappointment out here. I don't think the weather was kind to poor old Lewis and Clark. It sure looks kind on a sunny day, though. I am trying to write this comment and Yoda keeps jumping on my keyboard. My apologies if it's less than coherent. I will go feed him now...

Yes. Cape Disappointment is a good thing to remember. They arrived in November, the likely thing was that the weather was terrible - and by March, they had had enough!

I can relate. It's only September and I'm already despairing...

That first picture looks so serene, but like you said, who knows if the weather was kind to the two explorers.

Having had the privilege of growing up in this area, I think it is most likely that the weather was awful for most of the four months they were there. Sure, it's not rainy all the time, but even now, it's the second-cloudiest city in the US... The sun is a rare treat - especially in the winter.

It must have been very unpleasant for them... :-(

Your photos are WOW! ^_^

Thank you so much!

I really like those national museums .. it us amazing how good they were in building such wooden buildings .. I would like to see more of them now rather then the concrete ones nowadays

Well, the main museum is a modern building, but this part was designed to be as close to the original structure as possible. It's surprisingly small inside, only about half a dozen rooms, some of which were bunk rooms. I can imagine it being a rough winter.

You' ve been selected always in support of good work
