It is not really a fruit I think.
The one on the foto is from a horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) tree, and this is not edible for humans I'm told.
In France ( and other places ) there is another Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) of which the "nuts" are really delicious..
