That's great to hear. Looking forward to the videos. I have a Canon 70 D with a sigma 30 mm lens. I've taken a couple of star photos and they came out ok. I'd like to get the milky way too.

Thank you! Yep, I try to teach that to students, no matter what photograph it is that you're taking, we still need a foreground that takes us all the way into the back; so important with landscape photography of any kind.

You'd be surprised what cameras can pull off now, sometimes it requires the two-shot approach though, longer exposure for a foreground you like at a lower ISO, then expose for the Milky Way a bit later in the night, etc. There are tricks, just depends on how much time/patience you've got. The D810 though is a pretty great astro camera. It's showing its age now though in a couple areas.
