There are some unforgettable characters in the movies. Be it, Captain Jack Sparrow or Mahatma Gandhi, a face just snaps in our minds. Faces of the actors who played those roles. And I think we can say is that those actors lived those characters.
I know the first name that comes to your mind while reading this is Heath Ledger and then probably, Jared Leto. Both played the role of Joker and they were brilliant! But they almost scared off their fellow cast and even directors because they were so much into it.
You may call them dedicated or call them crazy. Some are even said to have lost their minds during their films. All I can say for sure is that they are some amazing actors.
Ever wondered what is it called when an actor becomes the character? Method Acting!
Today, we bring you some of such Hollywood actors who excelled at it.
Take a look!
Heath Ledger in "The Dark Knight:
The most hurtful of all has to be Heath Ledger. He went into the character so deep that he pretty much locked himself in a hotel room. He even starved himself and went into depression. He died of drug overdose in 2008 after completing the filming of the movie.
Natalie Portman in "Black Swan"
Natalie Portman went through intensive training for the movie, which included rehearsals for eight hours a day and losing 20 pounds for the movie. She even dislocated a rib during rehearsals.
Anne Hathaway in "Les Miserables"
Anne Hathaway only ate oatmeal paste for weeks and also dropped around 25 pounds. She even shaved her head to get into character. By the end of it, she admitted she was physically and psychologically deprived.
Jared Leto in "Suicide Squad"
The next Joker, Jared Leto went so much into character that he didn't speak to any other actors in the cast. He even sent them creepy gifts such as a dead pig or even a live rat. Is it something about the character itself?
