The Zoo was used by the Kaisers to educate the citizens, who would never have had the opportunity to visit exotic animals in their natural habitat. The place itself is amazing, even the walk through the gardens to get to the Zoo is lovely. Center of the Zoo is a cafe/restaurant serving cakes and traditional Austrian food... A nice change from the sausage stalls and coffee kiosks around the Zoo.
I have never seen place like this, it is excellent in every meaning of that word. They really have a huge variety of animals. I really loved pandas, we spent an hour watching them inside eating bamboo and then outside climbing tree. They are adorable. It is fun for kids. There are also baby animals & there is also a show when their are feeding the animals. Must visit for any animal lover.
