I'll admit that I'm not much of a photographer. I'm always developing new ideas for content here on #steemit and I thought it might be kind of cool to do a "Photo Dump" from my iPhone every week or few days. My goal is going to be to upload a batch of photos, give some context behind each one and work on my photo chops a bit. This will be a generic version of a "Day In The Life".
This is a picture from my car, driving Eastbound on Foothill Boulevard near Azusa Pacific University. They had this giant ferris wheel set up for an outdoor carnival and since I don't see those very often, I thought I would get a picture of it, while my light was red.
Earlier in the afternoon, we celebrated my friend Efrain's birthday by going to Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia, CA and topping it off with a terrible lunch at Red Robin at the Westfield Mall. They had 5 different jockey gnomes perched in an area by the Uber circle and I thought they would make interesting fodder for my camera roll. I was more intrigued by the painting techniques and color schemes of each gnome. I don't care much about the gambling aspect of horse racing, but I appreciate the landscaping and beauty of the steeds. I'm more fascinated with the vibrant colors and relaxing atmosphere, then I am the actual racing. It's good for me to escape my normal day-to-day and imagine what a day in the life might be like as a jockey or horse owner. I find myself reflective, asking myself rhetorical questions about where the other attendees are from and what their stories must be like.
At the end of the day, none of the horses hit, but we had a great time enjoying the weather and doing something different for a change.
(NOTE : All images were taken by me and emanate from my iPhone.)
