The Indian Pied Myna, also known as the Asian Pied Starling or Pied Myna, is a medium-sized bird belonging to the starling family, Sturnidae. Characterized by its distinctive black and white plumage, with contrasting patches of glossy black and pure white, this avian beauty is a common sight across the Indian subcontinent.
Measuring around 23–25 centimeters in length, the Indian Pied Myna boasts a sleek, slender body with a slightly curved bill and long legs. Its plumage is dominated by glossy black feathers on the head, throat, wings, and tail, accentuated by striking white patches on the wings, lower back, and belly. During the breeding season, males may exhibit more pronounced white markings and vibrant colors to attract mates.
