The Sasanqua Camellia, scientifically known as Camellia sasanqua, boasts glossy, dark green leaves that provide a lush backdrop for its striking blossoms. The leaves are often lance-shaped and have a smooth texture, creating a verdant canvas that enhances the visual appeal of the plant.
What truly steals the spotlight, however, are the flowers. Sasanqua Camellia produces an abundance of single or semi-double blooms with a diameter ranging from 2 to 4 inches. The petals are delicately arranged, forming a perfect symmetry that exudes a sense of harmony. The color palette is diverse, featuring shades of white, pink, red, and even some bi-colored varieties, adding versatility to its ornamental value.
One of the most attractive features of the Sasanqua Camellia is its compact and upright growth habit. Typically reaching heights of 6 to 12 feet, with a similar spread, this shrub is well-suited for various garden settings. Its moderate growth rate ensures that it can be easily managed and integrated into both small and large landscapes.
