Native to Australia, budgerigars have a rich history that dates back thousands of years. These birds were initially discovered by European naturalists in the late 18th century, and their name is derived from the Aboriginal word "Betcherrygah," which means "good food." Despite being found in the wild across Australia's arid regions, budgerigars have become one of the most popular and widespread pet birds globally.

Budgerigars are known for their vibrant plumage, which comes in a wide array of colors such as blue, green, yellow, and white. Their small size, playful demeanor, and ability to mimic sounds make them stand out among other avian companions. Budgies are also recognized for their unique cere, the fleshy area above their beaks, which differs in color between males and females.
