This week the fabulous @boyerobert has started a new photocontest. And of course I can't stand the challenge to take part in this new contest. The contest The contest is generously sponsored by Deranged Visions with his own Derangedcoin.

The theme of this first contest is "Hit me with your best shot".

One of my favourites

Is this my best? What is best? For sure that this one is one of own favourites, and it's for sure an image that I won't be able to reproduce so easily. It doesn't happen every summer that we have a long drought period here in the Netherlands so that our normally green nature will look like burned withered land. And exactly that is what you see on this picture.

The old had to be burned to start something new

But the most surreal feel to this image comes of course from the sky. I remember so well that I stood there, in the middle of a large piece of burned, withered no man's land. Looking at the colors of that burned withered grass, looking at the special, and almost threatening sky above me, which contrasted so beautifully with the burnt, withered grass. The whole scene, all together ... I was touched by it, and it gave me a feeling of abandonment. The feeling as if a chapter was being closed somewhere, the old one had to be burned to start something new.

A SURREAL feeling that I tried to capture

It was an unreal feeling. A surreal feeling ... and I tried to capture that feeling in this photo. Did I succeed? Is this therefore my 'best' picture? I leave it to you to judge. But I do know that I was "HIT" by this picture.
