in photoquesthunt •  6 years ago  (edited)

Chiang Rai is a city in the Northern Thailand and a very cool mountainous province the city is known for it's many famous Buddhist statues and Temples. I visited the city of Chiang Rai not long ago because i was interested in seeing some of these magnificent Buddha statues and the one i took the most liking to was the Buddha Statue called Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy which sits on a hill with lush landscape sourrounding this gorgeous Buddha statue. Guan Yin is a female Bodhisattva in Thai Buddhism which means someone that has reached enlightenment during their lifetime and continued to help others.

Guan Yin Buddha Statue represents a compassionate being is what the Thai people say and believe this Buddha responds to people who cry out for help. This Guan Yin Buhhda Statue stands 23 stories high and has a lift built within the statue that you can journey up to the very top and observe the fantastic views of Chiang Rai city and mountains through the window opening built in behind the head of the Guan Yin Buddha , definitely a breathtaking experience.

I absolutely love this statue!! Not for how big and absolutely stunning she is, but, for what she stands for.

I just cannot wrap my head around living in a place like Thailand and having all of THIS available for my personal viewing and pleasure. It is hands-down #1 in so many things.

Number one is abundance. Of people. Of food. Of beauty. I could go on and on. This is an amazing post and I hope you win the contest with your offerings.

I look at her from the distance and have to wonder what they were thinking as they were building her? Bigger is better? Or was it to pay tribute to her, making her bigger than life? I am not sure, but, the sight of her creates such a stir in me, I cannot imagine seeing her in real life.

Thailand is like a living canvas of art. Indeed.

Taking her home with me. Let her go!!! ;)

I can't imagine seeing such huge status! It's nice though! Good luck in the contest!
