The annual Bloomsday Race/Fun Run held in May in Spokane, WA is the largest in the USA and possibly the world.
I did my first last year. Starting in the slowest “ purple group, I walked the 7.5 mile course in about theee hours. I fell early in the race and spent some time in the medical tent.
There were over 40,000 participants, including people in wheel chairs, parents pushing baby carriages, and so forth.
Can’t remember my exact finish. It was in the high 30.000’s I think.
The big deal is getting the t-shirt for finishing. A select group have participated in every race since the late 1970’s.
You have to walk about another half of mile to get your t-shirt. I was dead tired but I got the t-shirt.
I plan on walking the race again this May.
Some photos from last year’s race.
