The physical sciences, in particular math and physics, offer a rare and somewhat exclusive perspective on the universe. In what is often referred to as "mathematical beauty", an extremely satisfying way in which the formulae and equations we use to describe reality somehow fit together like pieces of a cosmic puzzle, we catch glimpses of the transcendent.

Fleeting glimpses, no doubt, but enough of them that we gain an intuitive sense of order underlying the apparent chaos of the universe. The world takes on the qualities of an artistic masterpiece. And with that appreciation comes a natural respect for the artist.
