Handshake
A silent handshake, no words are needed, the dog will shake hands with the owner if he puts his hand in front of his feet. There is only one simple purpose to the handshake – the owner must be able to understand that “a handshake equals a foot up” or that “a hand up equals a foot up”.
-Training Objective: To get the dog to understand or read the “handshake” command.
-Training equipment: collar and leash, treats.

1. Have the dog sit on the owner’s left side with the collar on, then ask the owner to squat down.
2、Hold the collar in the owner’s left hand. If the dog is down, gently pull the leash backwards to keep him in a sitting position.
3. Once the dog is seated, tap his left front foot with your hand and the dog will naturally lift his left front foot.
4、If the dog does not lift his left front foot after tapping, try pivoting his left front foot.
5. The dog’s left front foot will then naturally lift up and hang in the air, when the owner takes the initiative and grabs his left front foot and calls out the command “shake hands”. When the dog has finished the action, give him a treat as an encouragement.
E Pet Tip: Shaking hands is the easiest and most accessible way to interact with your dog!
