Martha McClutchy was no ordinary 79-year-old. While most ladies her age were content to play bridge and gossip over tea, Martha lived for the thrill of the pickleball court.
Every Tuesday and Thursday morning, she'd arrive at the community center in her bright purple track suit and neon green headband, pickleball paddle in hand. The younger players would smile and roll their eyes as they saw her coming - there goes Martha again, ready to school us at pickleball!
Though her knees creaked and her serves didn't have quite the zip they used to, Martha could still place a drop shot perfectly on the line. She'd shuffle around the court with ease, keeping those young whippersnappers on their toes. Martha's competitive spirit was as lively as ever.
"C'mon, get ready for the McClutchy smash!" she'd call out, a mischievous grin on her wrinkled face. Martha loved the camaraderie and fun of her favorite sport. It kept her active and young at heart.
Win or lose, she simply enjoyed being out on the court. Martha embraced pickleball and life with equal gusto. She was known as the pickleball granny with grit and style. https://pickleball4all.com/
