Wandering shots in Thailand

These pics are from another bike ride where I headed out in some random direction just to see if i could find anything that would be worth taking a picture of. I suppose it is matter of opinion if they actually are worth seeing, but I found them interesting!

There is no shortage of these guys in Thailand as they tend to be guardians at the entrance to almost any temple anywhere in the country that I have seen. While this temple wasn't a particularly big one, it still had giant guards at the front gate.

Aside from the entrance, the rest of the wall around the property had these guys ever 2 meters or so. I have been told that these are also to ward off bad spirits or something along those lines. There were hundreds of them on the entire building.

A bit further down the road I saw people every now and then next to the canal with what appeared to be a crossbow of sorts. Upon closer examination I found that the arrow had a long string on it and the people are actually hunting fish. I have never seen fishing done this way before but it must work since so many people were doing it.

This levie gate wasn't even locked up or anything and no one complained when i messed with it. I cant say for sure why it was here or what was behind the gate. By the way i put it back the way I found it when i was finished playing with it.

So that was Wednesday afternoon. I really do enjoy these trips and don't think that you need to be in Ayutthaya in order to find something unusual, you just gotta get out there on your bike and explore. You never know what you are gonna find!
