Would you rather eat a pie or get staked up in BEOS?

I was summoned for some data earlier, and having naff all else to Post about today, this will have to do.

stolen from here

Have you ever wanted to know how much Steem Power is held in various groups of accounts?

No? Yeah fair enough, but @tarazkp and @taskmaster4450 do - here you go chaps:

Number of AccountsTotal SPRange
12254963,842,368.782< 100
137883,087,512.183100 - 499
41492,844,451.092500 - 999
518411,043,304.011000 - 4999
9436,557,090.7675000 - 9999
6418,642,394.51710000 - 19999
2295,539,182.95320000 - 29999
943,182,719.06130000 - 39999
713,144,806.37440000 - 49999
643,471,486.39150000 - 59999
402,554,654.38160000 - 69999
352,631,225.89370000 - 79999
201,692,937.05880000 - 89999
222,089,323.20390000 - 99999
194137,675,439.5> 100000

I could not be arsed coloring the pie nicely, but the key is in order of total SP, top left having the most, bottom right the least.

Oh, you wanted another range :D

That would be, by SteemSQL's reckoning at 12:15 AM UTC, 24064 accounts between 100 and 9999 SP holding a total of 23,531,437.513 SP.

Best pad the post out a bit and do another range, this one is a bit more familiar:

Number of AccountsTotal SPRangeName
12255023842380.073< 100 SPPlankton
137903088180.396100-499Redfish
933113885063.77500-4999Minnow
197827066893.45000-49999Dolphin
34044189191.450000-499999Orca
35105927621.2500000+Whale

I think penguin Pablo, or Pablo the penguin does that one? If not, I can add it to my monthly tasks.

Totally unrelated but what I was reading up on prior to ginabot shouting at me:

Is anyone doing the BEOS thing? I've heard a rumor...

Damn, now I am wondering if I should really go for the beos... 500 is just under 30 quid though and what if you don't have a lot of bts and end up with 1.6 beos which are worth 70 cents. The fear!!!!

As with all this malarkey there is a risk. I was thinking to chuck 1000 BTS in, 500 for the account and 500 to get rain-dropped on. Let's hope the shower is golden, or not?!

That sounds like a good plan. If I can get to a computer in the next 24 hrs I might join you!

Not so sure if golden showers are a good thing...

Looks like @wolfhart already beat me to the question, but I was wondering how you were differentiating plankton and redfish, too. Under 100 for redfish and 100-499 for redfish?

penguinpablo puts out a lot of good stuff, but I think what you're looking for comes from arcange, in terms of vests.

Speaking of which, he also uses deadfish, which probably describes most of those plankton you have there.

re: pie vs BEOS

Welll, pie is going to win no matter what, but considering I hadn't even heard of BEOS until you brought it up... :)

Dead fish, that does sound rather sad. I assume they hold 0 SP?

For the above I use < 100 SP Plankton, and 100 - 499 Red Fish. I guess I should update the table for clarity.

Pies > BEOS, right on. I know very little but have been reading up today and am interested - Bitshares meets EOS...

re: plankton vs redfish

Okay.

re: update

Well, now I've given you more work to do on something that you didn't sound so thrilled to be doing in the first place. :)

re: deadfish

Typically, it's not the amount of SP they hold, but how often they transact, as in post, comment, upvote. I don't think delegating counts. So there are rather large deadfish as far as SP goes.

However, if you look at arcange's chart breakdowns, the deadfish can't be larger SP because the whale count is always the right amount, and there are deadfish among those.

Task complete :)

I wonder if playing drugwars or steemmonsters counts, I would assume so.

The whales must be doing something if they all appear - moving their millions around perhaps :)

re: whales

Yeah, I've never understood how that breakdown actually works in arcange's daily report. Because there's plenty of others from minnows on up that show as deadfish if you search for them on steemitboard or elsewhere that uses the designations. Steemit, steem, freedom, all show up as deadfish because they're not active on the social side.

I have seen it so many ways. And even Plankton up to III levels. (499 SP)
A redfish can be a plankton but a plankton can’t be a redfish , ...WHAT.
LOL haha

Up until this post, I'd only ever seen redfish and plankton used interchangeably. There is in nature, however, a big difference between the two, and actually a redfish could be any of a number of different kinds, some of them considerably larger than minnows. So, it's been confusing to me already. Don't get me started with saltwater vs. fresh water, or why whales are supposed to help plankton when the latter is the former's main source of food. :)

Haha
Last year you were a minnow. Then the term plankton started being used as a slang for a newbie. It all depended on which app you were using. Plankton and redfish were the same . Now you have to ask. Dolphin 🐬 dropped to 5000 SP
I’m so confused 🤷‍♂️ am I an octopus 🐙

Cheers, that is pretty incredible to see really and shows how fast the numbers drop away. Mid range is definitely here now:

But will drop back toward the 300-1000 SP range quickly.

But will drop back toward the 300-1000 SP range quickly.

Is that where it was previously? Got a Pie?

no, it is continually dropping back I think as the first few accounts in would have had a lot but as more come in and earn, it falls back toward zero. On top of this, as prices increase, those who got 'cheap' steem are more likely to sell, reducing the top end stake further.

Bring on the PIE. I've never really jumped into Bitshares.

I've eaten some really good pie! :)

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

Pie is winning thus far.

I have, or had 11.5 Bitshares. Now I have 11 Bitshares sitting in a 'crossover' type wallet thing. So once everyone who visits this posts sends millions of Bitshares to abh12345.beos, I can then pay for a BEOS account (500 BTS!) and then get rained on for 90 days with BEOS. Sounds like fun huh?!

haha! My FOMO is so strong right now.

I created a wallet there once and promptly lost the keys. To be fair... I was still a noob.

:) I've never felt compelled to use it again.

I had FOMO a few hours ago, it's waning now though, a bit like BTC and the alts that tore after it the last few days.

I'm glad you learned the noob lesson over there, you are totally ready to tackle this new wallet over here now :D

test I might be having a wallet issue right now

  ·  6 years ago (edited)

That was weird. I think just a caching issue. I was on the dramatoken account and could see your reply to whatsup in my reply screen.

No I don't usually refer to myself in third person... But 2 accounts, 2 names. :)

I can't recreate it though. So I guess all is fine.

I did try to hand out some drama to meesterboom earlier for his excellent animation but I don't think they arrived.

I assumed that the 'wallet post' had eaten all the supply!

Pie > life, the universe and everything else in it.

Lots of pies in the universe though.... But I guess not as good as the one in front of you at the table.

People sit down to eat pie? OMG who can wait that long!

I eat standing up quite a lot, is that rude?

Nope, only rude to make people wait to eat pie!

Gotcha :D Well i've just finished my pie so you'll have to make do with some of these instead:

Congratulations! You have just earned some ENGAGE Tokens.

Find them at https://steem-engine.com

Going save em and buy some pie one day!

I've not done a pie sale in a couple of weeks and should probably get on that. Not sure what data to present though...

Also waiting for holger80 to do a bit more work on his steem-engine code, I think this will help me distribute.

The first one is a rather strange way to divide. The second one looks normal.
There are more plankton sp than red fishes, but I guess many planktons just gave up or serve other purposes like holding account names, no interest/know how to collect sp, etc.

A little, but Taraz likes those groupings and uses them for a post each month to see if any 'classes' are growing or not. The second is the norm, but the 'buckets' are too big to see what's going on.

I see the function. However the over 100k category skews the graph so much, maybe if there was a pie that eliminated it like magnify the sub 100k or even sub

Posted using Partiko Android

I could, but I'm out of pies this evening :)

Whichever way you slice it, the people are on one side, and the SP is on the other.

That's ok, I am quite full. Maybe I will bake my own pie. =p

Pie my ass.... Im in for the BEOS pie...its raining good over here, and up until now, it looks like the staked BTS are ready to move back when wanted....

immma leave em just right there, just because ...who knows

Very interesting once you get yr head around the odd order of the data!

I'll have to check out that BEOS thing. Cheers..

Posted using Partiko Android

Oh it's fucking bitshares. I set up an account a month ago, transferred some btc and it never arrived so fuck that.

Posted using Partiko Android

Oh shit :(

Where did you send from? I was looking at the send from Bittrex last night and it looks a bit funky, I think I will be sending a very small amount as a test to start with.

I sent from bittrex, the bare minimum, something like 0.0015 I think.

I'm actually in their discord server now with a few questions. Maybe I used the wrong 'bridge', whatever the fuck that is.

I hope they can help you out, or at least explain why in a way that can be understood. 'Bridge', no clue!

I'll let you know what the outcome is!

Must go and actually do some shit rather than hanging about here waiting for a reply! Bit of a tough one today, got a stomach bug and I'm trying to fast it out, but it's persisting the annoying little bugger.

Bummer. Hope you feel better soon!

I've finally got my BTS staked and it's 'raining' BEOS. Did you get your sorted?!?

Fun to do, it was not.

ha :)

Yes I did, last Tuesday I think. It certainly wasn't fun and a little stressful but I've since added a few more and I'm tempted to do the same again.

I had some very useful advice from @karinxxl - otherwise I wld've been a bit lost.

I've also no real idea wtf i'm doing with bts tbh - what are bitshares exactly?!?

Something to research I guess!

Posted using Partiko Android

I have not had the time to read through the BEOS stuff but have always considered Bitshares to be a solid blockchain so I may dig into it with some of the gains I have seend this week!

Posted using Partiko iOS

It's around $35 to create the account, and then you need to stake some BTS - I am tempted due to the BTS / EOS / Larimer connection.

It's a no brainer for them. If they lure 10K users they'll be fine.
People will jump in but pay 3 steem for steem account is too much?

Pie rules!
But.. I like the comments on this post 😆 since I don't know Beos, is it made from honey?

It could be all honey :D Made from Bitshares and EOS.

BEOS is a middle chain between Bitshares and EOS. It will join the two together in certain way to enable for enhanced features.

From: https://steemit.com/busy/@taskmaster4450/beos-goes-live-time-to-stake-bitshares

Done reading the link and it is interesting 😊 though I'm not a user who likes to explore something like that and bitshares 😨 I'd better wait some more time to learn about it too.

What’s the difference between Red fish and Plankton ?

Plankton, I think (and at least above) is < 100 SP. Then you are Red Fish til 500 SP.

Thanks
Will you be doing something on the advertising rollout.

A post?

Something like: Steemit.com made me a gambling addict and redirected me to ladies of the night? :D

That would work. Interesting anyway

Still no clue what the BEOS thing is about. A cross chain, chain?
And i have to stake my BTS for 3 months?
Not my game.

All Stan's coins and projects died so far as I know.

Good news to wake up to this :D

I take it you wont be getting involved?

No. I'll pass this one.

Fair enough, I'm tempted but it's more FOMO than educated guess.

My understanding is great, but BTS / EOS and Raindrops I like the sound of :)

Good luck. :)'
