Pigeon A Day. 💜

in pigeonaday •  7 years ago

I have been attempting to feed the pigeons in our neighborhood with little luck. Days go by without sighting one even looking toward our yard.

Yesterday, such excitement! There was one on our roof! And today? Today came joy.

This pair of cuties were in the alley just outside our home!

I gave them a wide berth so as not to scare them, talking all the while, telling them how beautiful and precious they are.

I hope they return soon!

They will be back for sure

Denver pigeons are fearless, generally. 😂 Is there a story behind why pigeons hold a special place in your heart?

I think it's because of how similar to chickens they are. I had to give up my birds when we moved into the camper. They were my precious, precious babies. I obsessed over my chickens.

Pigeons have a social system a lot like chickens. When they're in a flock there are a couple bossy hens in a clique that push everybody else away from their click.

They look fat and round, I've never touched one, but I bet they have that same softness of feather. They look soft. Anyway. And they're tbe perfect shape to fit in the crook of your arm while you go about your day.

This little girl was my house chicke. She bossed the dogs arouns and stole food off our plates. And she was the best cuddler ever.

Her name was Fluffalufagus, fluffy for short. She was my baby.

I keep a connection to her love through the only birds available here. Crows, Ravens, Sea Gulls and Pigeons.

I love the name "Fluffalufagus"

I probably didn't post super pigeon yet.
