Albinism is a congenital condition that causes the sufferer to experience a lack of melanin or even no pigment at all. Therefore, the color of the skin, hair and eyes in people with albinism is pale and tends to be white. Albinism is caused by changes or mutations in genes that affect melanin production. Melanin is a pigment produced by melanocyte cells found in the eyes, skin, and hair. Because it is a genetic disorder, albinism cannot be cured for life. However, the treatment or treatment carried out aims to maximize vision and protect their sensitive skin from exposure to direct sunlight. Although people with albinism can live like other humans in general, this does not mean they are free from health problems. Insufficient melanin content can also affect their health. Well, health problems that can threaten them include skin cancer.
