Piracy Is Popular Like Never Before

Despite the growing number of different legitimate sites to buy or rent video content, pirated content in last year was popular as never before. The organization, which monitors the development of pirate trends on the WWW, MUSO, has been in extensive research to recognize that websites with pirated content have recorded more than 300 billion visits in the last year.

This actually means that the total number of visits to pirated sites compared to the year 2016 increased by about 1.6%. Interesting, more than half of the pirates visit websites where we can watch streaming pirated video content without the need to transfer or download them to a computer. Most pirates were recorded in the United States, followed by India and Brazil.

In the last year, pirates took on various TV shows while music and feature films were found in the second and third place. The MUSO organization also pointed out that all the fighting is increasing mobile piracy. Last year, it was the first time that pirated content on mobile devices had surpassed those located on personal computers, which is the case for television series and music.

Piracy on mobile devices is actually the result of unlimited access to the broadband mobile internet, which is increasingly accessible. On the other hand, this is the result of the unsuccessful persecution of pirates by the piracy organizations. For this reason, MUSO is convinced that it would be necessary to carefully examine user profiles looking at pirated content in order to better adapt business models of payable services, which would make them more and easier access to end users.
