Here I discuss the recent PIVX update to incorporate zerocoin privacy features and the knock on effect on staking. If you have a recent PIVX wallet and you unlock it for staking it will start minting zPIV coins from your existing balance. There is no easy way in the wallet to turn off this feature, you need to edit your wallet config file to stop it. The two main issues are: 1) zPIV coins are not eligable for staking; 2) There is a 0.01 PIV fee for each minting process. My 67 zPIV coins took 9 different mints and therefore cost 0.09 PIV.
I will do an update when I work out how to turn off the auto-minting and also when I can find out how to send the zPIV back into my main PIV balance.
