There is nothing good about them, but with the source code opened for everybody it was inevitable. They often don't even have any change in the code and are just trying to lure people in to a completely new white canvas with cheap pixels that you can buy. Some of these copycats can even be scams so be cautious or just stay with the original.
On the other hand, competition is important! When the first copycat launched it awoken pixelmaster and he started asking for suggestions how to make the game better and more popular. People suggested a lot of great ideas in their telegram group.
But will the updates to the game be enough? Copycats are diluting interest and dividing already a community. The activity on the canvas in the "original" game is dropping, but with the current pot of over 20000 EOS that will go to the last pixel painter it's just impossible that the game will end quickly - people for sure will try to win the pot.
With lesser activity some drawings and arts will finally stay intact such as the steemit advertisement on the big ninja turtle! Big win!
