Jakarta - TNI Commander General Gatot Nurmantyo apparently does not care about the polemics of G30S / PKI film screenings within the internal scope of the institution. He insisted the show watching the controversial movie was indeed his command.
"That's what my order is, what is it that can ban me only the government," said General Gatot when met after the pilgrimage at the Tomb of Bung Karno (MBK), Bendogerit, Blitar, Monday (18/09/2017).

Gatot said the interior minister had allowed him to order all his members to watch the New Order era film. When asked about the material the film is still a polemic, Gatot said watching the film is an attempt to straighten history.
"Well, I do not want to be polemic, it's also an attempt to straighten history, I just want to show the facts that happened at that time because my children, my soldiers, still do not know," he explained.
According to Gatot, even President Sukarno himself gave a message not to forget history. "The history is not discredited, it only reminds the children of the nation, do not let it happen again, because it hurts for all parties, and there are so many victims," he said.
The TNI plan to hold a movie with G30S / PKI was a polemic. Some people think the movie is not worth watching anymore. But there is also support the TNI plan as an effort to remind the dark history of this nation. (tor / tor)
