1. The Great Wall of China can be seen from the Moon. Also, it is the only manmade object to be seen from the Space
The Great Wall is actually huge. But the thing is, it cannot be seen from space. Even with the best of the cameras, it is indeed tough to spot the Wall from Space. The solid rock forming part of the Wall is taken from the surroundings and since the Wall is very long, it is not highlighted from Mother Earth.
2. Mount Everest is the tallest Mountain
The height of Mt. Everest is calculated from above sea level, whereas the height of a mountain is judged by its complete height, starting from the base and rising to the top. Mt. Mauna Kea in Hawaii is a whopping 10,200 m when compared to 8,848 m of Mt. Everest. Here’s how. Most part of it lies beneath the sea and only a meagre 4,206 m rises above the sea level.
3. Swimming with your stomach full can lead to cramps
It was always perceived that swimming after having a meal can lead to cramps which can further cause you to drown. In fact, if you swim after consuming alcohol, then you are done for good. Alcohol has an adverse effect on your body since swimming requires a great amount of physical effort. You may feel short of breath though, after having a hefty meal but you are good enough to swim around.
4. Chewing Gum is stuck in your stomach for 7 years
One of the most bizarre stories doing the rounds. Children were feared to death when they swallowed a whole lot of gum as they thought it to be stuck in their bellies for 7 long years. The fact is, it easily passes through your digestive system.
5. Our fingers wrinkle in Water
Ever observed your fingers to become crazy wrinkly when you had a nice bath or swim? Well, it’s actually an “autonomic nervous system” that gives you a better grip in wet conditions.
6. Chameleons change colors based on surroundings
It is a well-known fact that chameleons are good at camouflage. However, the real fact is they use chromatophores that is triggered when it feels sad, angry or fussy. If they are feeling romantic too, they could still change colors. It’s a way to communicate with each other as well.
7. The color Orange is named after the fruit
It is the other way round. Early in the 15th century, the color orange was often considered with the red color.
8. Crackling your fingers too many times can cause Arthritis
First up, crackling sound made when the fingers are done so is only a release of gas. It does by no means that your fingers are going out shape. Excessive crackling can lead to ligament tear and not arthritis.
9. Mother birds will abandon their babies if humans have touched them
Birds do not have a sense of smell that could differentiate the touch of a human or an animal.
10. Humans have only 5 senses
Humans feel a lot of different things like pain, acceleration, heat, balance and other intangible stuff. The actual count is still disputed, but ranges anywhere between 9 to 20.
