Planing with a router!

Because I don't have a planer and most planers won't have a capacity for 75cm width of endgrain I needed to plan it with a router!
This can be done in a quite simple way without expensive machines. You need 2 straight pieces that form a rail and you need to be build a simple jig that will form the bridge.

Make sure that the rails and the bridge are level in all directions. This is a very important step. Make also sure that the workpiece in this case a very heavy block is stable.

The cutting was very uneven and the two faces were not parallel. I was forced to remove 1.5cm. This had to be done in a couple of stages. Below you see a good example of after the first stage. You see that the freshly cut wood is level, but left is still a big part uneven.
