RIP BreadMachine

in planned •  7 years ago

Hi ! Just a short post about my BreadMachine that passed away after 10 years of service.

I fill that it was a belt that was game over. The disassembly was really a pain to say the least, because this thing is not designed for any disassembly, where is it not a funny game to try to access screws not accessible from the inside or the outside without blowing a plastic cover...

Anyway, after removing all rusty screws and create 2 small holes in the plastic cover to be able to access the last 2 screws, I was able to access the main plate holding the electric motor.

The electric motor was nearly new after 10 years of services, the construction of this machine was not bad. However there was a few more severe damages, all bearings failed and seized, adding slightly more torque on the belts and nearly all the plastic gears failed due to the unexpected torque. This is a pity but I have to put it to trash.

I am still thinking that such items:

  • bearings
  • belts/plastic gears
  • heat resistance
are the number one failures, it is a pain to not being able to access this from under the machine and fix it in a few minutes.
    Yet another planned obsolescence.
