Aloe Vera - the Medicinal Plant - with Video

in plants •  7 years ago

Vera is my neighbor and when i see her i say " Aloe Vera" ... and now i'll go and stand in the corner. But seriously, this is a very useful plant. Amongst it's claimed uses, Aloe Vera can be used as a natural mouthwash, to relieve heartburn, lower blood sugar in people with Diabetes, a skin moisturizer, a pain reliever, and even has the potential to fight Breast Cancer. The leaves can be processed into a Gel or juiced in order to be used in these ways.

Aloe Vera is a hardy plant. Being a succulent, it's leaves hold a lot of liquid , and the plant can survive quite dry conditions. It is one of the only plants that are thriving in my "garden" at the Farm. The Video which i have posted here will show you the plant which is flowering at the moment.

Does it help for ear infections?

Yes, apparently Aloe Vera juice will treat ear infections.

how about staphylococcus or swimmer's ear?

It is claimed to have many benefits and applications. I hesitate to provide too much "advice" as i am not a Doctor. But i am happy that my post triggered your interest in Aloe Vera. More information is available on the net.

nice trip to farm

Thankyou, there is more to come !

Thanks for sharing! Can you eat it raw? or cook it in some sort of recipe? How about as ice tea?

Yes, it is juiced and drunk from the raw plant , i have seen many drinks which contain Aloe Vera. I have not heard of it's use in cooking , but i'm sure it could be used. I guess you could combine it with Tea, and drink it.

Thank you, @ctrl-alt-nwo. I am wondering whether you have to cook or boil it first before mixing in the juice or drink. I shall experiment with this one day. Meanwhile, you should stay away from too much heat! See you.

I am sure there is lots of Youtube videos on how to work with Aloe Vera to make different things. I would think that you would not boil it because it may destroy the goodies in the juice. I am no expert, but a little research will do the trick. I might look into it myself because i am interested in knowing more.

I remembered trying a lot of herbal remedies and aloe vera was one of them. But some people make it as a refreshing drink.

Sure, i am certain that Aloe Vera has a lot more uses than i listed in my post, and i am happy to see that you know a lot about it.

Yes it is a good versatile plant, awesome remedy too for minor cuts.

Hey hows it going?

I'm not too bad thanks. And thanks for the appreciation !
