Followers of the truth of the gospel: We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts

Paul founded the church in Thessalonica on his second missionary journey, the acts of the apostles tell us about the birth of that Christian community: "When Paul and his companions had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue. As was his custom, Paul wen into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and proving that the Messiah had to suffer and rise from the dead. ´This Jesus I am proclaiming to you is the Messiah,´ he said. Some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and quite a few prominent women." Acts 17:1-4.
Time later, after his arrival to Corinth, he sends them the first letter to respond to some concerns of the first believers; in the letter he explains the reason for it, and on the other hand, he communicates the demands of evangelization:
"For the appeal we make does not spring from error or impure motives, nor are we trying to trick you. On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts. You know we never used flattery, nor did we put on a mask to cover up greed—God is our witness. We were not looking for praise from people, not from you or anyone else, even though as apostles of Christ we could have asserted our authority. Instead, we were like young children among you." 1 Thessalonians 2:3-7.

The purpose of evangelization is not to obtain money or the adulation of others, these are selfish goals and according to the flesh, heresies are born fundamentally for these causes. On the other hand, when we seek to please God and not men, it is when the gospel is preached according to the truth of Christ and his wisdom; and this gospel preached according to the truth is the one that bears fruits of life.
