This issue of mood disorders in women associated with hormone cycles was not only a popular notion to the point of cliche, but the specific extreme situation we now call PMDD was widely know anecdotally and to medical professionals since the 1980s. Probably there are episodes of Oprah about it or whatever.

And the cases in the article where “my doctors didn’t consider” that it had a parallel to menstrual cycle? That’s unfathomable. The first thing that gets asked about is that. And if there is an intermittent mood disorder the patient is asked to keep a daily mood diary and the data is looked at for patterns.

Like, WTF?
