With 1 billion Pocket Tokens claimed -a new market is emerging.

Find out how to claim yours now…
or read all about it with the introductory post by Biophil

Now a market is emerging…
#However, with new markets come new possibilities.
You may all remember the first time a pizza was sold for bitcoins.
https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-pizza-day-celebrating-pizza-bought-10000-btc/
Now they claim that pizza went for millions of dollars!
Well it is time to have some fun with our new pocket tokens
Now one concept I am very familiar with is market capitalization.
If you have a company and it has one million shares of stock and they are trading at $1 the market cap and value of the company is one million dollars.
(Number of Shares) times (Price) equals Market Capitalization
Now if mid-day the stock starts trading at $2 the company then has a market capitalization of $2. If this is to happen a few things are needed. There needs to be a market. This requires buyers and sellers. And there needs to be a sale. Now I am not a lawyer, but in order to be legitimate one needs to do a few things. There needs to a real sale. There needs to a transaction. And if something of real value is sold and exchanged with proof it is easier to claim that a real transaction took place.
Now those in the stock market know that when a stock happens to sell at a high price you don’t get to go back and retroactively sell your stock at the day’s high price. If you are not in the market …tough!
It is also pointed out that there are over 1 billion pocket tokens.
Everyone was issued 1,000,001 pocket tokens.
So if we have an auction. And one pocket token is sold for $1.
Then everyone –who has not spent pocket tokens can claim to be an instant millionaire!
How long this lasts is another issue. If there is a legitimate transaction it is the case. Or so at least we can argue!
Now if I sell a pocket token for $2 everyone who has pocket tokens is a multi-millionaire!
If I can get someone to send me one bitcoin for one pocket token.
Note: Here is a bit coin address…
And bitcoins are worth $4,300 each and there are only going to be 22 million of them.
Now if you give me one bitcoin, that would make Pocket Tokens, instantly and until the next transaction clears the most valuable crypto currency out there with a market cap of more than $4,300,000,000,000. That could take a good chunk out of the national debt.
That would be cool.
Now this would only be the case for a few minutes; but nonetheless it would be the case. All other people do not get to retroactively sell their tokens at a high price.
But I realize that even though I put a bitcoin address in here twice
You are all smart people and are not likely to send me real money.
So rather than bidding higher for price for one pocket token. We can auction off at a set price for ever smaller portions of a token. Money isn’t everything.
Rather than send me 10 dollars for one token.
You could send me 1 dollar for one tenth of a token.
See if you buy 1/10 of a token for $1.
That still means the tokens are worth $10 each.
Everyone is still worth 10 million dollars (for 3.14159 seconds or something like that).
Now if you buy 1/100 of a token for $1;
Then every token is worth $100.
And we are all worth $100 million!
Everyone wins!!!
As you can see by buying less of a token, the market cap goes higher and higher. And if the winner of the auction actually puts a one dollar bill in the mail and mails it to me we could have real proof! We both could post pictures of the hand written letter and the dollar bill as real proof that the transaction actually took place. I know a stamp is going to cost you $0.49 cents. While a greenback would be nice and would look cool. A $2 bill or even a penny, or foreign currency of some sort would also be accepted. Beggars can’t be choosers. How creative can you get?
But we want to have a little fun with this. We both get bragging rights, blogging rights and the knowledge that we are blazing a new frontier.
Potential fame and fortune is available to all!
Our fun now can be the stuff of future legends.
If someone can theorize about the US treasure minting a trillion dollar coin
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trillion_dollar_coin
We can create the highest market cap crypto currency that ever existed!
Well since we have a market lets have some fun –tongue in cheek- and do the things that would make a funny post.
So here are the terms and conditions:
Note terms and conditions are all retroactively changeable at any time the auction host feels
- I am willing to sell some pocket tokens.
- I want to get the most for my tokens so I want to entertain whatever offers give it the highest market value.
- Bitcoins are divisible, however, according to biophil, Pocket tokens are not. As a result all deliverable pocket tokens will be rounded up. So no matter how small of portion you bid for you still get one token. (But the world gets a higher market cap!)
- All offers are entertained, especially entertaining offers.
- This auction will be open for 7 days.
While I anticipate the winning offer will be for some small fraction of the pocket token, how small is open and terms and conditions are available for great creativity.
So please place your offers for my pocket token that is for sale in the comments below!
So far I have not gotten much interest in the auction. I was hoping for an auction between two people for ever increasingly small portions of a token that would result in a astronomically and comically high market capitalization with some sort of paper -as in tree dead tree paper- trail. I will also entertain promissory notes, particularly of the most crazy type.

Very clever thought experiment.
Certainly belies some of the grandiose capitalisations being bandied about; particularly by heavily pre-mined coins.

Yeah, The first bot to confirm gets the transaction point. I think this will be improved. There is some code running that stops one bot from doing it twice. We will call this "bug" a "feature" until it is fixed.

How about using SBD!!! Instead of bitcoin. I do love the idea of being a multi millionaire if even for just a few minutes though!!! Love the attitude.

The idea of being a millionaire sounds very appealing but is never ever gonna happen. At least not with POCKET.
You took the comparison with Bitcoin but forgot a basic principle. A bitcoin exists of 100,000,000 satoshis and POCKET cannot be split. Nobody wants to pay 1$ to send 1$. Thats a waste of money. I personally see the maximum worth of a single POCKET token to be 0.0001$/SBD or less. In that case the maximum worth of your million POCKET is 100$/SBD which sounds more realistic to me. We should not forget it is an experimental (sub)token that only can be used on Steemit.

Well yes. People said all these same things about bitcoin. Even the first bitcoin pizza transaction was pre-arranged as a publicity stunt. Here I am offering to open up the world in a less prearranged way. I am trying to have a little fun. Your arguments are thoughtful, balanced and have a lot of common sense. At the moment I can't even convince one person to enter into a bid. However, my bidding for a fraction of a coin could open a market, set a precedent and give us all (dubious) bragging rights. Right now the points are almost worthless, but if we bid up the points and create some artificial demand, the sky is the limit.

The proof of concept is in the reply above. Nothing happened. What sense does it make to bid on a fraction of a token you can't split or send? If the bot would round it up you would create new tokens and devalue the system.

The point is that for a incredible small amount of money we can claim a infinitesimally high market cap. I stated from the get go that we would round up.

Let me tell you a story. When I was kid we didn't have social media and I played quite a few games of monopoly and I was rather good at it. That said the games always ended, and we never got to play with all the hotel pieces. It was rare that anyone ever got a hotel built. Well one day I recall we were playing, and their were several of us. And after one player went bankrupt, rather than force him to watch we loaned him money. You no longer collected $22 rent; every roll had you landing on a hotel. If you did pay rent you handed them a $100 bill and said keep the change. When the bank ran out of money we wrote out some IOU's and kept going. It was a great deal of fun. There were hotels and monopolies all around. This is life. In real life if everyone were to withdrawl all their money at the same time, only about 2-5% of the money could be withdrawn. There is not enough green paper to withdraw it all. It is called fractional reserve banking. In 2009 when the banks went bankrupt, it was a very good parallel to what I learned playing advanced monopoly. The market to market rules and the lack of a functioning market caused the banks to become insolvent. Even today when people say Bill Gates is worth 90 billion dollars; he can't sell that all at once. If Bill Gates tried to sell all the stock in one day, I would guess he would do good to get 25% of his net worth. It would be foolish to try to sell it all at once. Under the massive selling; there would be very few buyers for such a big amount of stock. That said, to play with the new crypto-currency it is not fun to play with myself. So I am looking for some friends to play. This post is mostly about having a little fun with mark to market; and cryptocurrency evaluations. There is a good chance that much of what we do will end up in the dustbin of cyberspace. That said, today we have a chance to make history. We have a chance of making a claim we are all rich. We have a chance of claiming to be millionaires, billionaires, or trillionaires. But at the moment we do not yet have a market. There are no legitmate bids. I am hoping that someone will offer at least one US penny for a millionth, billionth, or a trillionth of a coin. At that point I can put my maths skills to work and we can watch the market cap go to the moon.

The market cap of Steem is as we speak ± $353 million.
There are over a billion POCKET tokens circulating at the moment. By initiating fractional banking of POCKET then there is a significant chance that POCKET get's a bigger market cap than STEEM does have.
Personally I think that is not what @biophil had in mind when he started his project.
Sure, it would be fun but it's a little to early to get a stable market cap on POCKET already. The Genesis phase is not over yet and the idea of POCKET must settle first.
For myself is POCKET a nice gimmick and I do not have any expectations on it. Maybe it's my scepticism about new cryptocoins and tokens. I've got them for free and if it turns out the be worthless I'm still happy for being part of the experiment.

If you take a nap we may never be millionaires... A free market requires two participants, and to suddenly claim that we are millionaires I need to get some bids... And it helps the case if there is something that looks like a legitimate transaction.
