It seems like an eternity since the conferences semis have ended! Glad to be back with the regular MLS Contest program even if there are only two of those left in 2017!

Now, we are going into the east and west finals!

On one side we have the red-hot Columbus Crew facing the shattering records Toronto FC, and the young & dynamic Houston Dynamo against the force to be reckoned with that are the Seattle Sounders on the other side!

If Toronto and Seattle both win their dual, we would be seeing a repeat of last year MLS Cup's confrontation!

But they first need to go through another two-legged series.

And this is how it goes:

-two teams go at each other in the east, two others in the west

-two games between these teams that are in the same conference, one home the other away for all of the parties involved
-only one of them coming from both sides of the continent will make it to the grand finale, there are no draws possible
-in the case of the adversaries having scored the same number of goals after 180 minutes (meaning the cumulative score of the two 90 minutes games), the team with the most away goals wins
-if the numbers of away goals are the same, two halves of 15 minutes each are required, whoever comes on top after 30 minutes wins, there is no golden goal rule
-and finally, if a tie persists, five penalty kicks on each side​ are taken, a ​ritual which will be extended one versus one at a time if the first ten shots taken at goalkeepers were inconclusives
