B Libre! is a podcast that revolves around Bitcoin, its philosophy, its effects on society, economics, as well as the many projects spawning thanks to the birth of this powerful cryptocurrency. My name is Andres J. Gonzalez (Andy) and I started this podcast along with my friend/landlord Alex Eaton simply because we could (it’s so easy and affordable to start your own podcast), and because we have a deep passion for this technology and the positive force it can bring to society. Onward to freedom!

Why I Joined Steemit
It’s been a long time coming, folks. The concept around Steemit that pushed me away at first was when some random commenter on reddit coined it as “the killer of facebook”. I don’t know why but my first instinct when anyone says “x will be the y killer” is to about face and never look back. Here’s my reasoning: when something like Facebook comes around, it isn’t toppled over by something that does the same as Facebook, but by something that does things differently (or better). Take Myspace for example, it ended up losing the race because people realized they wanted the high polish and uniform curation already built into Facebook instead of doing it themselves on Myspace. Facebook didn’t do what Myspace did better, it did something entirely different. Steemit to my pleasant surprise is not like Facebook, it is looking to do something worlds apart in utility. Whereas on Facebook most of the value and business opportunity goes to Facebook’s coffers, Steemit turns the concept of content sharing and curation on its head where the users and creators are the ones benefiting. The fact that Steem is a crypto helps matters further as banks (or gatekeepers as I call them) are not involved, leading to even more value returning to the content creators/curators. Due to what’s mentioned above, I can’t see a concept like Steemit failing anytime soon and it’s why I believe Steemit is here for the long haul. I would be remiss in not diving into this opportunity to become a part of an inclusive platform that immediately gets down to business and spreads value where it is merited (smells like opportunity). I am sure there’s a lot more to Steemit than meets the eye and look forward to learning more about it as I go.
B Libre!’s First Steemit Debut: Episode 21. The Bitcoin Beginner Box
In the meantime, please enjoy B Libre!’s latest episode: “The Bitcoin Beginner Box”! This episode features our Podcast’s very own Alex Eaton and our recently joined Adrianna Mendez who have spent the last half year developing the literal box which we hope will be every Bitcoin beginner's one stop shop for learning the basics behind Bitcoin. Everything from the Satoshi white paper to cold storage is covered. Included in the box is a beginner’s booklet that takes the reader by the hand through Bitcoin’s “rabbit hole” in the hopes they are not captured by scams or mlm schemes; teaching them the basic tenets of money and why Bitcoin may be its best representation humanity has ever seen to date. The episode goes over everything that comes in the box. Please enjoy the show and stay tuned for more episodes.
