As most crypto-obsessed HODLers know, the vast amount of information involved with this emerging technology is difficult to explain in general, but it's tough to know exactly where to jump in. Decentralization, peer-to-peer computers calculating tons of transactions, market caps, number of coins in circulation, tokens vs. coins, ICOs, etc. Ahhh! Where to begin!?!
In my short four months of wild goose chases, I've only recently started to see the big picture, but I'm still having trouble verbalizing it to other people. I have some friends/co-workers who do some mining and have been talking to friends who are smaller investors, but overall diving into this industry is like finding the best lunch spot in town a months before it becomes too popular. Soon there will be a 2 hour wait!
I crave to know more about the tech, finance, and mining aspects of cryptocurrencies and blockchain tech. Not to mention the types of products (good, bad and absurd) that will emerge from this globally connected chain of machine crunching transactions. If you're like me, you listen to a lot of podcasts to learn about a subject. Since the crypto space has been growing rapidly there have been a lot of people jumping in lately. Well don't worry, I've been doing my homework, so you don't have to. Read my synopsis below, and you can pick one or two that best suit you.
So, for those of you who are new to crypto like me, I recommend you start listening to one of the podcasts below. If you are nervous about investing and just want to dip your pinky toe into the cryptocurrency water, use the Bad Crypto Podcast's Coinbase.com offer and receive free $10 when you spend $100.
Now, pick a podcast, kick back and start learning about the universe of cryptocurrencies and watch your portfolio shoot for the moon!
1. Unchained -
Hosted by Laura Shin, a Senior Editor at Forbes.
Laura is an excellent guide through the giant world of cryptocurrencies. She's inquisitive, on point for every interview and has experience covering crypto, so she knows how to break it down for us noobs too.
I recommend anyone new to crypto listen to the episode with Amanda Gutterman (chief marketer at ConsenSys) and Jamie Smith, (global chief communications officer of Bitfury). Jamie, notably, had the best breakdown from multiple angles. I'm excited to see who Laura will have on next! I will admit my one problem with Unchained is Laura's audio quality could use some improvement. Content is excellent, though.
2. NeoCash Radio -
Hosted by JJ Epic, Dr. Darren Tapp, Pedro Aguiar & Randy Clemen
NeoCash Radio is like a supergroup of characters from all different expertise banning together for one decentralized cause. The skill sets are vast and the in-depth analysis from IT, news, finance & other aspects of the crypto world. It's is fun to hear these experts go deep in technical and big picture elements regarding crypto's decentralized model.
3. Crypto 101 -
Hosted by Matthew Aaron
I don't know what Matthew Aaron did before this podcast, but he has one of those smooth buttery radio voices. He hosts some excellent guests that you can tell he admires that are heavy hitters in the crypto space. I find his interview style to be the easiest on the ears.
Matthew is also really good at forming his questions in a way that implies "What does this mean for me, the average Joe?"
Asking tough questions of cryptocurrencies is essential because if we're going to bring crypto into the mainstream, we need to think about how to communicate the complicated technical aspects of crypto quickly.
Hosted by Joel Comm and Travis Wright
By far the funniest crypto podcast you're going to hear. Travis and Joel are the morning talk radio guys of the Crypto world. I just hope they don't start using sound effects.
Joel and Travis are longtime tech industry dudes who were bitten by the crypto-bug a few months before I was. So, it's been enjoyable to listen to them grow and learn right along with me! Their audio quality is usually the best in this space too. Oh, and you're reading the words of a BADcoin millionaire, by the way. Just a quick warning, they can steer toward non-PC, cringe-worthy gags, but they usually get the train back on the tracks pretty quickly. Their songs and characters can be fun, though. The Bad Crypto podcast is an entertaining and educational show for the crypto-beginner!
5. The Cryptoverse -
Hosted by Chris Coney
This show is like mini-NPR's Marketplace for crypto-heads. Though most of the time his podcast is syndicated over from his YouTube & DTube channels, sometimes you have to kind of imagine what he's doing, but he's excellent. I love his market run down. He has a couple of segments each show, but my favorite portion of each show is when he picks two coins to deep dive each week. One that is trending up and one that is somewhat whacky, odd, etc.
I really love his breakdown of the daily market cap and hope he keeps that segment around. Hearing crypto talked about in this way makes the industry feel validated somehow. The dialogue Chris uses shows this is an industry that needs watching, just like regular stocks. It goes against the feeling that this is just some weird new technology that isn't mainstream yet.
It has been exciting to see all these people rally around the next big thing in global computing. I'm happy to be one of the early adopters! Say hello or recommend your own crypto-podcast in the comments.
Laura Shin is my favorite too! Her podcast has such a great arch to it covering the history and development of crypto. It's been wonderful to listen to the interviews that must have contributed to her becoming a senior editor at Forbes. Her recently written cover story on crypto for Forbes validates the legitimacy of her ability and talent in helping bring crypto to the general public.

Cool post and thanks for other podcasts to listen to in between the Bad Crypto episodes! Just one small niggle: the Coinbase offer is, I believe, $10 after doing $100 in transactions.
Stay bad!
