Path of Exile Pokemon League! (Bestiary)

in poe •  7 years ago

Path of Exile is the game I've spent the most time in (probably after Vanilla and TBC World of Warcraft). Now every now and again I come back to POE, usually skipping a league or two. Thing is I can't stop once I start! It becomes like an obsession and it isn't healthy for my bank account or training goals usually.. Funny enough I think I'm more social (even though on Discord) while I'm on the POE drug since I always talk and play with some of my closest friends from my hometown. (I think that is what makes the game so much more enjoyable)

I've somehow missed the last expansion which was HUGE and last league or two so I have a lot to catch up.. plus there is the Bestiary or as we all call it the Pokemon league running now which has quite a lot happening in it as well. I love the game but it can be overwhelming for someone just starting.. There is so many things to do and so many things that you need to know to be good at it. If you miss a few months there is a lot to catch up! At least now there is a guide with tips for new players with everything explained.. (no such thing when I was starting..had to learn the hard way!)

I'm already level 84 and feeling quite strong on my Dual Strike Duelist.

The atlas is part of the end game grind which includes maps (which generate random creatures in them plus random mods for the creatures characteristics). You unlock them by completing them and you get some bonuses for them all. By the end you get to the centre where you find the 4 Shaper Guardians which give you fragmets that unlock the fight with the Shaper Himself (the creator of the Atlas).

Bestiary

The main guy with whom you start the pokemon hunt is this guy - Einhar Frey.

You catch the beasts with special Nets that drop as any other item in the game from killing monsters. Once you throw the net you have a short period of time to finish the mob, otherwise it heals up and enrages. You can catch any beast in the game but some have special abilities that are specific for the league and some of the fights with them are quite hard. Harder fights though are a lot more rewarding and unlock quite good recipes.

Once you catch a beast you can see it in your Bestiary which is a book you open up with the hotkey 'H'. There you can find any recipes you have unlocked and any Pokemons you've captured, as well as how many are they out there available to get into your 'pokedex'.

With the new league there is a whole new area called the Managerie where you can use the beasts you capture. Inside you have a few places where all the creatures you have go. As you can see every specific breed has it's own cage and they stay there until they are sacrificed :|.

These are the Managerie Depths where all the sea creatures are kept for example.

Once you are done with catching and you get some nice recipes you need to go to the Blood Altar and select one. You have to fight the monsters you've captured in a pit in order to sacrifice them and get the item. As I already mentioned some of these monsters are really hard to kill and here you fight 3 to 4 of them altogether. If you fail to defeat them and they kill you, unfortunately you lose the beasts and don't get anything.

I'm off to the next tier of maps and to catching some more Pokemons. Hope you enjoyed the little different post today!

You won't take me back to Poe!! I will be strong!
Damn, this game...

I wish I was strong enough :| .. The snow that came Friday, Saturday was the key point... cancelled both my shifts and league was starting Friday... Damn weather is even against me.

The same here... I've been working so hard the last couple of months that I can break at any time.
Why would you post about Poe!? Post about Minecraft :d
