An Invisible Fire- Diary of an outbreak

in poem •  5 years ago  (edited)

What great works of art will come from this?
Will they burn your work along with the bodies?
How many houses will light up tonight?

It goes like this
There is some dumb asshole dosing his apartment in Dettol and 70% proof alcohol to kill the virus.
Lights a cig, cause he is stressed
His hands are covered in a homemade alcohol rub
... and BAM
A whole city block is up in flames
The frontline people are all sick
Don't expect sirens tonight
Don't expect help
Just watch the houses burn
We had no where to put the bodies anyways
They just quietly decay inside abandoned homes
On dirty sheets they blurp out the last of thier disease
Forgotten beds slowly being engulfed in heat
Those beds knew cold for too long
The planet was on fire long before these flames
Politicians played their war games
The people they got played
The media might as well of lit the match
The mouth pieces spewed fuel
The poor where the kindling
The world raged out of control
Their hearts where turned to ash... long before the flame took their bodies

Didn’t turn out all that exciting, is that a disappointment or relief?

I wonder if all these riots will spread it like crazy over there?

I wonder if all
These riots will spread it like
Crazy over there?
