Would you talk to a friend
The way you talk to yourself
Would you be so critical
If it was someone else

Would you be so quick to blame
If it was anyone but you
Would you get so angry
At the little things they do

Would you be so unforgiving
Of a friends every mistake
Would you be so harsh with them
Or would you cut them a break

Would you turn on a friend
With the disdain you hold for yourself
Would you let rip on them
Or would you just want to help

Would you even let a stranger
Speak to a friend like that
Or would you jump to their defense
Would you have their back

Loving yourself is hard
There is no need to pretend
But maybe we could start
By being our own friend
