It is a lovely art form. I knew Daniel Shellabarger (aka Suelo), before he gave up money and chose to live entirely on the kindness of others. Even when offered money for book and/or film rights to his story, he has refused as noted in his wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suelo
In fact, I was there when Daniel made his fateful decision. He was traveling south through Massachusetts, where I had a cheap winter rental near the stormy coast. He had already largely dropped out, but he was still carrying a small amount of money "just in case." He later told me that one day he realized that that small amount of money was nothing but a burden holding him back, tying him to something he wanted nothing to do with. He said that when he finally realized that, he gave that money to another homeless person and has never looked back.
Thanks for the comment and sharing the story Daniel Shellabarger
