DESIRES

in poem •  7 years ago

We are all aware that time flies
We also need to know that it swims
That was my portion
For yesterday and today
When I was held hostage
By expectations

I never knew, or rather
It has rarely occurred to me
That I could be tied down
Immobile in a mobile day
It’s a feeling of retrogression
When you are borrowed
Your “own” coin
Lord have mercy!

I really waited for you
From young of the day to old
And then it died fruitless
Causing me to abstain
From the burial rites

It wasn’t funny being captive
Neither was it interesting
Because it spoilt my day
A day anticipated
Anyway, I’ll believe the “Y”(s)
Just because it’s you
But my day was really spoilt.
