How do You know?

in poem •  7 years ago  (edited)

She said to me once,
My smile made her repulse,
The rotted yellow teeth,
The maggots of my mouth.

That if I didn't change,
Then that would be it,
Three years down the drain,
And only a Durex pack to show for it.

My life a shambled mess,
My head stuck in a dress,
Tailored to keep me trapped,
Till I fell to mind.

The everlong,
Of my burning desire,
Tore a hole right though it,
And let me see my soul.

I looked myself in the eye,
No worry but so much fear,
And with a swig of courage I asked,
"How do You know?"
